Milgard team members and MITER Foundation contributed backpacks, school supplies, and gift cards for 44 local students.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — MITER Foundation, the charitable arm of MITER Brands, a family of leading window and door brands, recently partnered with The Salvation Army Del Oro Division for the foundation’s annual back-to-school shopping event and donation drive.

This year’s efforts kicked off with an on-site school supply donation drive at Milgard Windows and Doors, part of the MITER Brands portfolio. Over several weeks, team members donated essential items for the start of the school year, including binders, notebooks, pencils, crayons, rulers, and more.

In addition to the school supplies, the Milgard sales team donated 44 backpacks that were then filled with the collected items.

On Saturday, August 1, 33 Milgard team members gathered at Target for the back-to-school shopping event. To support the event, MITER Foundation donated $10,350 toward Target gift cards for each child to purchase clothing, shoes, and personal hygiene products.

The gift card amounts varied based on the children’s ages, taking into consideration that the older children might need more items that are generally more expensive:

  • $200 gift cards for 18 children ages 5 to 10
  • $250 gift cards for 21 children ages 11 to 15
  • $300 gift cards for 5 children ages 16 to 17

“We were incredibly excited to partner again with The Salvation Army for a 21st consecutive year to help local children in need gear up for a successful school year,” said Candy Salazar, MITER Foundation volunteer and Human Resources Generalist at Milgard. “This has been a long-standing tradition that our organization looks forward to year after year, and we can’t thank our team members enough as this event is made possible by their incredible support.”

MITER Foundation was founded in 2015 by 10 team members in Pennsylvania to raise and donate funds to four noteworthy causes: community outreach, heroes support, children’s well-being, and cancer support.

Since its inception, the foundation has grown to 16 committees nationwide, consisting of hundreds of team members across the country. It has expanded from supporting causes primarily in Pennsylvania to 42 states, with team members donating nearly 40,000 hours of volunteer time.
