GRATZ, Pa. — MITER Foundation recently announced that its Pennsylvania outreach committee will host an inaugural breast cancer awareness 5K run and walk in Gratz, Pennsylvania.

Held at the Gratz Fairgrounds on Saturday, October 10, the event will begin with registration and check-in at 10 a.m., followed by the run/walk at 11 a.m. Participants will complete two loops around the property on a course that includes the horse racetrack, as well as paved and gravel roads.

For the inaugural event, MITER Foundation has two donation tiers for race entry:

• A $25 donation for the 5K run or walk
• A $50 donation for the 5K run or walk and receive a T-shirt

Runners and walkers who sign up for the $50 donation tier will receive their t-shirt after the event.

All entry fees collected will be donated to individuals in the local community battling breast cancer.

“Cancer support is a cause that is deeply meaningful to our organization,” said Amanda Klinger, MITER Foundation Program Manager. “With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we are proud to have created an event that not only encourages health and wellness, but also gives our community an opportunity to stand together, show their support, and make a meaningful difference for those impacted by breast cancer.”

Following the event, runners and walkers are encouraged to mingle and enjoy food and refreshments available for purchase from food trucks on the property until 3 p.m.

In addition to breast cancer support, MITER Foundation has donated money and raised awareness for the National Breast Cancer Foundation and the Carol Milgard Breast Center, provided ongoing financial support to children's cancer research through St. Jude in Memphis and Four Diamonds, and worked with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, among other organizations.
